All-State Softball Teams Include Lakes Conference Quartet

The Lakes and Siouxland Conferences are well-represented on
this year’s Iowa Girls Coaches Association All-State Softball Teams. In Class
3A, Spirit Lake’s Paige Krause earned first-team
accolades. The junior tied a school record and finished third statewide with
thirteen home runs and was chosen as a utility player. Estherville-Lincoln
Central, which finished fourth at state, placed pitcher Kendall Bosch and
infielder Emily Kirchner on the first-team. Bosch had a state-low 0.65 ERA and
will play next season at Syracuse
University. Kirchner had
the second-best batting average in the state, hitting at a .566 clip in her
junior year. Also in Class 3A, MOC-Floyd
Valley’s Tarah Hunt (OF,
1st) and Emily McDonald (P, 3rd), Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley’s Kassidy Van Voorst
(IF, 2nd) and Monserrat Figueroa (C, 3rd), and George-Little
Rock/Central Lyon’s Lexi Ackerman (C, 2nd) all earned state
recognition.

The Class 2A All-State Team consisted of Emmetsburg pitcher
Faith Schmidt on the third-team. The senior struck out a state-high 322 batters
and will throw next season at Buena
Vista University.
Meanwhile, Marissa Childress of West Lyon was
selected as a second-team infielder.
