Class 1A action kicked off on Thursday and three of four Okoboji Pioneers advanced to the quarterfinals. Dustin Schwaller was the only one to lose his first round match but bounced with a 31-second pin in the wrestleback to move into the 285 consolation bracket. Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn advanced four of seven wrestlers to the quarters, while both Michael Jensen and Nate Howard of Graettinger-Terril advanced to the final eight in their weight classes.
In Class 2A, Doug Miner of Spirit Lake Park had to wrestleback but won 11-1 over Tanner Cowan to move to the 2A consolation quarterfinals. For Emmetsburg, Skyler Rice hits the 135 lbs. semis against Wilton’s Kyle Paulsen while Joe Naig (160) and Jacob Morris (189) are in the consolation quarters.
