Spirit Lake hitters sent two over the fence Tuesday night, including a grand slam by Bailee Newman, as Spirit Lake topped Spencer 10-5. Carly Ites hit the other homer, her first of the season. The shot by Newman was homerun number 6 for her on the year. Freshman Maddie Richter also had a great night at the plate, going 2 for 3 with 2 rbi’s. Spencer’s Karis Rhode was 3 for 4 with 2 rbi and 2 runs scored. The win improves Spirit Lake to 12-5 overall. Their 6-1 Lakes conference record is tied with Lemars at the top of the league standings. Spencer falls to 7-8. The Indians host the Bulldogs Wednesday in a double header.
