School football team advanced to the third round
of the Class 2A District playoffs, last night, with a 43-7 win over Sheldon.

That’s Indians’ head coach Josh Bolluyt, whose team got touchdown
runs, of 94 and 28 yards, from senior Bryson McCabe.

McCabe also scored on a 38-yard catch-and-run after
receiving a short pass from Indians’ quarterback Paul Brown.
With the win, Spirit Lake improves to 10-1 overall, and
will travel to Hull, Iowa, Friday, for a re-match with Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley,
who advanced with a 45-7 win, last night, over Garner-Hayfield/Ventura.
The two teams squared off in Week 5, and BH/RV won that game
25-10.

The E-Hawks advanced to the third round of the Class 1A District
playoffs with a 28-0 win over Fort Dodge-St. Edmond.
Andrew Wellik led the way for Emmetsburg, offensively, as
he rushed for 357 yards and all four
touchdowns. Jake Jackson had two
interceptions to lead the E-Hawk defense.
IKM-Manning beat South O’Brien, 28-17, last night.
In Class 3A, Spencer was eliminated by Bishop Heelan Catholic, 57-35.
In 8-Man Football, Harris-Lake Park
saw its season come to an end, as the Wolves were beaten 47-7, on the road
against Newell-Fonda.
The Mustangs rushed for 334 yards with 239 of them coming in the first half.
Senior Jonathan Johnson rushed 7 times for 114 yards and junior Brady Bohe
rushed for 111. Newell-Fonda scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and
got three more in the second to lead 40-0 by halftime. They improve to 11-0 and
host Marcus-Meridan Cleghorn on Friday. The Eagles beat Laurens-Marathon 55-25
and are also 11-0 on the season. For HLP, senior Kade Heikens led the way with
82 yards on 19 carries. The senior scored the Wolves lone touchdown from 8 yards
out in the fourth quarter. HLP finished with 107 yards on the ground and just 18
yards through the air. The loss ends the Wolves season at 8-3 and wraps up a
great high school career for Heikens and fellow seniors Colin Brons, Tanner
Hiveley, and Eli Ihnen.
