Okoboji, Spirit Lake, HLP Girls Hoops All Get Wins

The Okoboji High School girls basketball team made the most of 23 West Lyon turnovers, last nightm and beat the Wildcats 57-21 in Milford.  Skylar Hanson had 15 to lead the Pioneers.

 Goodlaxson says it was a team effort 

That’s Okoboji Girls coach Abby Goodlaxson, whose team improved to 10-4, overall, and picked up its third straight win.  They travel to Sheldon on Friday.

 

As for the Spirit Lake girls, they were coming off a pair of consecutive one point losses, Friday and Saturday, against Spencer and Okoboji, and found themselves in another one point game, last night at LeMars, only this time they came away with 38-37 win. 

Reinking says they’ll take it 

That’s Spirit Lake Coach Rick Reinking, whose team was leed by senior Alissa Christoffer, who scored 15 of her game-high 19 points in the second half, eight of which came at the free-throw line.  Spirit Lake returns home, for the first time since Dec. 4, this Friday, to take on Storm Lake. 

The Estherville-Lincoln Central Girls trounced Emmetsburg, 45-11, last night.  Allie Sievert and Emily Kirchner paced the Midgets with 10 points apiece.  ELC improves to 13-2 while Emmetsburg drops to 1-10

 

In other girls’ action, Spencer beat Cherokee 49-41 for their 9th win of the season, Rock Valley topped Sibley-Ocheydan, 45-35, Sioux Central downed Laurens Marathon 38-23, South Central Calhoun over Pocahontas 67-42 and Harris-Lake Park downed West Bend-Mallard.
