Spirit Lake Girls, Boys Both Beat Cherokee

The Spirit Lake boys and Girls Basketball teams both registered conference wins over Cherokee, last night.  The Boys improved to 12-5 overall and 5-5, in the Lakes Conference, as they beat the Braves 75-38. 

Alec Henrickson scored 18 to lead Spirit Lake.  Paul Brown chipped in 12.   

J.D. Mitchell, who doesn’t get much playing time, came off the bench to score five fourth quarter points.  The first shot he took was a three-pointer, which he knocked down, much to the delight of the Spirit Lake fans.

The boys’ game will follow the girls, who won, last night, by the score of 66-46.  Twelve players scored, for the Indians, who were led by Emma Dau with 13 points.  K.J. Veldman scored twelve.

That’s Indians coach Rick Renking, whose team improved to 11-5, overall, and 7-3 in the Lakes Conference.
