Sioux Central at
Okoboji
The Okoboji Girls Basketball team beat Sioux Central, 42-41,
last light in Girls Class 2A Regional Quarterfinals, as senior Skylar Hanson
got a shot to roll in, with 10 seconds left, which lifted the Pioneers to the
win.
Goodlaxson talks about the win
That’s Pioneers’ coach Abby Goodlaxson whose team trailed 24-22
at halftime. The Pioneers took the lead after three, 35-31. In the fourth
quarter, Sioux Central came from behind to retake the lead 41-40 with less than
a minute to play. The Rebels then forced a Pioneer turnover only to see junior
Abby Taylor steal the ball back for Okoboji with less than 30 seconds to play.
Hanson then got her shot to roll in to give Okoboji the lead.
Sioux Central had a shot at the buzzer but it wouldn’t fall.
Taylor led the
Pioneers with 14 points, while Hanson had 10. Okoboji is now 16-6 and hosts Emmetsburg
Friday in a Regional Semifinal in Milford.

Emmetsburg at North Union
The E-Hawks advanced with a 49-44 win over North
Union, in overtime. Emmetsburg had 3 players in double figures
with Ashton Connelly scoring 15, Alexa Naig had 14 and Whitney Kibbie chipped
in 11.
HLP at Central Lyon
The Harris Lake Park Girls basketball team saw their season
come to an end, last night, as they were beaten by Central
Lyon, 75-37, in Rock Rapids. Senior Lexi Ackerman scored 22 of her
game-high 29 points in the first half, as the Lions stormed out to a 43-21
halftime lead and never looked back. Senior Kori Schulte had 22 for Central Lyon. Junior
Noreen Morrow led the Wolves with nine. HLP
finishes with a record of 14-7, and will lose senior Mariah Gath from this year’s
Cornbelt Conference title-winning team.

Friday, against George-Little Rock, who beat Clay Central-Everly, 50-17, last
night
South O’Brien vs.
Boyden-Hull
South O’Brien advanced with a 42-20 over Boyden-Hull, in
their Class 2A quarterfinal matchup.
They’ll face Western Christian, Friday, in Hull.
The Wolfpack knocked off Rock Valley, 68-22.
