Okoboji senior Abby Taylor sunk a jump shot with five seconds left to put Okoboji up 41-39 and allow the Pioneers to escape past Emmetsburg in Girls Class 2A Regional Semifinal Basketball in Milford on Friday night.
The Pioneers had a 21-14 lead after halftime but went cold in the third quarter as the E-Hawks heated up from outside. Emmetsburg outscored Okoboji 19-9 in the third quarter and also got the first six points in the fourth quarter to go up 39-30. Okoboji then scored the final 11 points of the game to pick up the win. Taylor led the Pioneers with 14 points.

Senior Skylar Hansen had 11 for Okoboji who improves to 17-6.

Emmetsburg sophomore Ashton Connelly led all scorers with 20 points. 14 of those points came in the third quarter. Sophomore Alexa Naig had 10 for the E-Hawks who finish their season at 4-19. They graduate one senior, Whitney Kibbie. Next up for Okoboji is a Regional Final in Sibley against top ranked Western Christian on Monday night. In Class 1A Regional Semifinal Basketball on Friday night, Central Lyon beat George-Little Rock 66-55 and West Sioux barely got by West Bend-Mallard 47-46. The Falcons and Lions will meet up in Sioux Center on Monday night for the right to go to state.
