ELC Falls To Assumption Davenport In 3A Title Game

The Estherville-Lincoln Central Girls basketball teams was
beaten, 62-40, last night in the Class 3A State Championship game, by
Assumption Davenport.  It marks the third
straight state title, for the Knights, who had three players in double-figures,
led by Hailey Schneden with 18.

 

Emily Kirchner led the Midgets with 14 points.  She, along with teammate Allie Sievert were
named to the Class 3A All-Tournament team. 

 

The Midgets conclude their season with a record of
23-4.  They’ll lose six seniors to
graduation: Kirchner, Allie and Casey Sievert, Sara Heywood, Macy Dahl, and
Maggie McCauley.

 

There will be a welcome home celebration, for the Midgets, Saturday
afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the ELC
High School gym.

 

Two teams from Northwest Iowa
captured state titles, in both Class 1A and Class 2A.  Central Lyon
outlasted Newell Fonda, 63-61, to take the 1A crown.  Western Christian downed Lawton-Bronson, 75-58,
in Class 2A.
