The YMCA held its Iowa
State swim meet this past weekend in Marshalltown, and it included
several local kids who competed on behalf of the Bedell Barracudas.
Madison Sieperda took first in both the 100 Freestyle and
200 Freestyle. She broke the state record in the 200 Freestyle, for her age
group, with a time of 2:03.32. Sieperda
took second in the 50 Freestyle.
Erin Dau placed third in the 100 backstroke. Parker Beck placed fifth in both the 50 Backstroke
and 100 Backstroke, and seventh in 50 Butterfly. Emily Lehner took sixth in the 50 Breaststroke.
Two relay teams also brought home points for the Barracudas. The 200 Medley Relay team of Lehner, Sieperda,
Sophia Endly, and Nancy Maris took 6th place and the 200 Freestyle
relay team of Maris, Sieperda, Endly, and Marisa Weeks got 8th place.
Next up is a Regional YMCA Meet at St
Thomas, MN this
weekend for some of the swimmers.
