The Northern Iowa Womens’ basketball team opens Missouri
Valley Conference tournament play, Friday, against Indiana State. They closed out their regular season with a
66-61 loss to Illinois
State on Saturday.
Warren says senior day was emotional
Kirshbaum, a senior from Spirit Lake,
led the Panthers, Saturday, with 18 points and pulled down six rebounds. She
also blocked two shots, Saturday, and is one block away from being tied for
ninth most blocks in UNI women’s basketball history.
Kirschbaum, along with Kalin and Morgan, have combined to
start 204 games, and have been a part of 78 UNI wins since the beginning of the
2009-2010 season.
Kalin
has been named the 2013 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She is the second player in conference
history to earn the distinction twice and the first player in UNI history to be
awarded the honor.
Kalin
is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Kinesiology and Sports Psychology.
The Sioux City
native presently holds a 4.0 GPA.
Warren
says she would have liked to have seen her seniors finish the home portion of
their final regular season with a win.
