The Okoboji Girls Basketball Banquet was held on Tuesday,
March 12 at the Okoboji High School. Eight players earned varsity letters for
their efforts this season as well as two team managers. Okoboji finished their
season with a 17-7 record and tied for third in the Siouxland Conference. The
Pioneers will lose senior Skylar Hanson to graduation. She made her mark in the
Okoboji record books, finishing 12th in scoring, 8th in
rebounds, and 5th in blocks. The girls basketball program received
the school’s Academic Achievement Award for their collective 3.61 grade point
average as a team. Freshman Brenna McCabe was given the Best Teammate Award by
her teammates. Senior Cassie Fairchild was also recognized for her four years of
contributions as team manager. The Pioneers improved their win total by 11
compared to last season.
