The Iowa Basketball Coaches Association has announced its
Girls’ All-Region teams.
Spirit
Lake senior K.J. Veldman
was selected to the Class 3A All-Region
team, for Region 2. Veldman averaged 20
points and seven rebounds per game, as she led the Indians to the opening Round
of the Class 3A State Basketball tournament.
Veldman was also the team leader in steals and assists.
Estherville-Lincoln Central seniors Allie Sievert, Sara
Heywood, and Emily Kirchner were named Class 3A All-Region, in Region 3. The Midgets were Class 3A State Runner-Ups.
Sievert and Kirchner both averaged around 14 points per
game, in leading ELC to a 23-4 overall record.
Heywood averaged just under ten points per game, and was the team leader
in both steals and assists.
Okoboji’s Skylar Hansen has been selected to the All-Region
Basketball Team, for Region 1, in Class 2A.
Hanson averaged just under nine points and five rebounds,
per game, as the only senior on a Pioneer team that finished 17-7. She was also the team leader in blocked shots
with 23.
Emmetsburg sophomore Ashton Connelly was also named to the
Class 2A Region 1 team, along with Rachel Struve of South O’Brien.
Connelly led the E-Hawks, this year, with 12 points per game. Struve averaged 15 points and more than ten
rebounds, per game, for South O’Brien.
Harris-Lake
Park junior Noreen Morrow
was selected to the Class 1A All-Region team for Region 1. Morrow led the Cornbelt Champion Wolves with
15 points and 12 rebounds per game.
