Spirit Lake-Okoboji Boys Tennis Beats Cherokee

The Spirit Lake-Okoboji boys tennis team knocked off
Cherokee, 9-0, yesterday.  Brandon Stoll,
Andrew Ites, Trystan Wiedow, C.J. Kent, Tyler Schmitz, and Ryley Smith all
picked up singles wins.

Ites and Wiedow teamed up for a doubles win, as did Stoll
and Schmitz, and Ryley Smith and Michael O’Brien.  The Indians host Spencer on Monday afternoon.

Comments from Coach Dan Taylor:

The guys
played solid tennis up and down the lineup.
We kept the unforced errors down and didn’t beat ourselves.  The Cherokee guys played hard, and put
together some good runs of solid tennis, but our guys weathered the storms and
stayed consistent long enough to pull out their matches.  We had some tight ones at #6 varsity singles
and #1 varsity doubles, but Ryley in his singles match, and Trystan and Andrew
in their doubles match, really turned it on in the end, finished strong, and
came away with hard fought victories.
And overall, it’s just great to see the work the guys put in during the
offseason pay off, as all of them are playing at a higher level than they did
at this time a year ago.
