Spirit Lake Okoboji’s Rachel Westergard and Natalie Delaney advanced to the Consolation Semifinals of the Class 1A State Doubles Tennis Tournament, yesterday. In the first round they lost 6-3, 6-2 to Rachel Tucker and Grace Newman of Glenwood. That put the duo in the consolation first round where they defeated a team from Dike-New Hartford 6-1, 7-5. In the the consolation qtrs, they beat a team from Clarke 3-6, 6-3, 1(8). They will be in the consolation semifinals on Friday and could compete for 5th and get no lower than 8th.
Olivia Rohlk and Hanna Schoning, of Spirit Lake-Okoboji, were eliminated as they fell to Veronica Francis and Paige Engbers of Pella Christian in the first round 6-3, 6-2. In the consolation 1st round they lost 6-2, 7-6(3) to a team from Davenport Assumption.
