HLP Basketball Splits With Emmetsburg

Girls 

The Emmetsburg girls jumped out early to a 17-7 lead after the 1st quarter and then again outscoring HLP 16-11 in the 2nd quarter to defeat the wolves 50 – 36.  Harris Lake Park would outscore Emmetsburg 18 – 17 in the second half but could not get over the big deficit from the beginning.  Emmetsburg had 3 players in double figures led by Ashton Connelly with 20 points, Alexa Naig with 14 and Tegan Olson with 12.  Harris Lake Park was led by Noreen Morrow with 14 points. 

HLP falls to 4 – 4 and will host CCE Thursday and North Union on Friday.  Emmetsburg improves to 3 – 1 and will host Storm Lake on Tuesday on Y 100.  They have won 3 in a row since dropping their season opener.

Boys 

The boy’s game started off very competitive with HLP leading 10 – 9 after the 1st quarter and only 25 – 20 at halftime and it was only a 7 point game after 3 quafters.  It was the 4th quarter where Harris Lake Park outscored Emmetsburg 17 – 8 and beat the E’Hawks 53 – 37.  The HLP defense held Emmetsburg to 9, 11, 9 and 8 points in the respective quarters.  Harris Lake Park had 3 players in double figures led by Brady Van Iperen with 21, Cole Bosma with 16 and Skylar Cudmore with 10.  Emmetsburg was led by Erik Drost with 16 points. 

HLP improves to 4 – 2, they have won 3 in a row and will host North Union on Friday on Q 102.  Emmetsburg falls to 1 – 3 and will host Storm Lake Tuesday on Y 100.
