Brett Waechter of Hartley is going to be a Hawkeye. Waechter made a verbal commitment to Iowa, accepting their offer last night to play football. The 6-5, 265 pounder will be joining 3 other NW Iowa Hawkeye recruits, Jake Newborg from West Lyon, and Landen Paulsen and Levi Paulsen from Woodbury Central. All 4 are expected to play offensive line. Brett is the son of HMS head football coach Steve Waechter. 6 athletes from the state of Iowa have now made commitments to join Iowa football program this fall. The other two are Drew Cook of Iowa City and Tyan Boyle of West Des Moines.
