Central Lyon Baseball Comes From Behind To Defeat Okoboji

Okoboji saw it’s 2-1 lead slip away
in the sixth inning and found themselves on the losing end of a close 3-2
contest in Rock Rapids against Central Lyon on
Thursday night.  The Lions struck first in the bottom of the first.  They would
hold that lead until the fourth when Okoboji tied it up thanks to a couple hits
and a Lions error.  In the fifth, the Pioneers scored another run to take a slim
lead, but the Lions got two crucial runs on two hits in the sixth to earn the
win.

Holt Hunziker took the loss on the
mound.  He pitched the first 5 2/3 innings, giving up all three runs on five
hits.  He struck out three and walked three.  Riley Anderson pitched the final 2/3
of an inning for the Pioneers, giving up just one hit and recording one strike
out.  Offensively, the Pioneers collected just five hits.  Offensively, Noah Bouse
led the Pioneers, going 1-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases.  Defensively, he also caught a pair of Lions stealing on the base paths.  Okoboji
is 3-12 (1-8 Siouxland). They play at Sibley-Ocheyedan on
Friday.

Lyon
’s Nic Lutmer got the win in relief.  He recorded one strike out and gave up no runs in his two innings of work.  He
relieved Kalen Eckenrod.  Eckenrod pitched the first five innings, giving up two
runs on five hits, striking out six, and walking one.  Riley Van Wyhe was 2-for-3
at the plate for the Lions with a run and a RBI.  Lutmer was also 2-for-3 with a
RBI.  Central Lyon is 8-5 (6-3 Siouxland).  They
host West Lyon on
Friday.
