Track Teams Compete Well in Sioux City

The Spirit Lake Park boys and girls track teams participated in the Sioux City Relays over the weekend and came away with numerous top-three finishes. For the boys, school records were set by Alec Baldwin in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4-minutes-30.94-seconds, as well as by the four-man Shuttle Hurdle team of Aric Waltz, Rick Wilson, DJ Smith, and Kyle Heidebrink with a finishing time 1-minute-1.03-seconds. Both were good for second place finishes. Kyle Heidebrink also brought home a silver in the 400 hurdles (57.27). The boys 4×100 relay (46.05) and team medley (3:44.59) placed third.

The SLP girls came back with four second place finishes, led by double-silvers in the 100 meter dash by Megan Lawler (12.59 in Class B/12.60 in Elite Class). She was also part of the second place 4×200 relay team (1:51.84) with Alex Horsman, Caila Jones, and Lindsey Arneson, and the second place distance medley (4:31.03) of Lawler, Horsman, Jones, and McKenzie Dziedzic. The Indians wrapped up the day with a third place time in girls 4×100 relay (11:38.57).
