Iowa senior and Spirit Lake graduate Katie Brown has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Second Team in 2010. She is one of 14 Division I players selected to the District 7 team. The athletic first baseman has started all 44 games this season for the Hawkeyes and leads the team with 27 RBI and is second with five home runs. In addition to this latest honor, Brown is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, has made the Dean’s List twice, and is a three-time Presidential Committee on Athletics Award winner. She is set to graduate this spring with a degree in elementary education. You can see Brown and the Hawkeyes take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers this Saturday at 2pm on the Big Ten Network.
