The Siouxland boys golf title is going to come down to the season’s final meet. On Tuesday, Okoboji’s 158 team total was the best at the tour meet at George-Little Rock, eight better than MOC-Floyd Valley, and pulls the Pioneers even with the Dutchmen at 76 points on the season. Okoboji’s Matt Ohl finished runner-up by a stroke with an even par 36, while teammate James Halbur was third with a 38 and Jeremy Wollenburg fourth with a 41. The conference’s final meet is scheduled for Thursday on the Pioneer’s home course.
The Pioneers girls golf team was second behind MOC-Floyd Valley in the tour meet at Sibley-Ocheyedan, who finished fourth. Okoboji’s 197 trailed the Dutchman by 12. Kiley Wermersen and Hannah Jones both shot 46’s to pace the Pioneers and tie for fifth individually.
The Tin Cup belongs to Harris-Lake Park for the second straight year over Sioux Central in boys golf, following day two of their Ryder Cup-style dual. The final day was held in Singles Match Play and the HLP boys won four of the six matches, giving the Wolves an overall 7-2 victory. Highlighting the day was Austin Jacobsen’s one-under-par-34, while Nathan Kyle shot a 38.
The Harris-Lake Park girls golf team came within two of setting a new season low on Tuesday, shooting a 225 in a losing effort. Sioux Central fired a 202 to grab the dual win. Sam Brueggeman was the top scorer for the Lady Wolves with a 50, while two others from Sioux Central shot 46’s.
