History was made on the soccer pitch Tuesday night as the Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji boys team matched a school record with their 11th win of the season, defeating MOC-Floyd Valley 2-1. SLP-O trailed 1-0 at the half, but Erik Vaage tied with an early second half goal. Then the drama insued and with seven seconds remaining, Dru Cochran-Bray perfectly placed a corner kick to Zubeen Azari for the game-winning header. They can set a new school record for wins on Monday when they host defending champion Spencer. Monday will be Senior Night, and coach Cochran-Bray is asking for a white out from the team’s fans, meaning all in attendance should wear white.
The Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji girls team walked away winners on Tuesday as well, beating the Dutchman 4-0. Brandy Fowler and Hannah Marsh each had two goals, while Shelby Rohlf recorded two assists.
