Younger track and field athletes will have their chance at glory next week, as the Spirit Lake Noon and Sunrise Kiwanis are again sponsoring the Hershey’s Relays at Sheryl Maahs Track in Spirit Lake. area youth will have seven events to participate in, including runs of 50, 100, 200, and 400 meters, a 4×100 relay, and two field events, softball throw and standing broad jump. The track and field games are scheduled for next week Tuesday at 3:30, with registration forms currently available all Dickinson County schools. Kids must be between the ages of 9-14 by December 31, and the Kiwanis would like registration forms to be turned in by Friday, May 21; however, athletes will be able to sign up through the start of the games. Winners will advance to the state meet, with a chance to qualify for the nationals in Hershey, Pennsylvania. A rain date has been set for Thursday, May 27.
