For the third consecutive summer, the Spirit Lake girls golf team will be heading to the state 3A meet, following a second place finish in the Regionals on Monday. The Indians 370 team total was behind host Clear Lake, which shot a 358 to qualify for state. Maureen Owens 82 was good for runner up honors by a stroke, while Emily Ayres shot a 95, Ashley Nielsen a 96 and Leah Hilpipre a 97. The Class 3A meet will be held in Ankeny on June 1-2
Also headed to state is Emmetsburg, behind a 397 team effort on its home course in the Class 2A Regionals. Jenny Hoch paced the EHawks with a 95. Emmetsburg will travel to Adel for its state meet. Meanwhile the Okoboji Pioneers fell 11 strokes shy of joining the EHawks. Their 408 team score was third best at the meet in Emmetsburg. Hannah Jones brought in the best individual score for the Pioneers with a 97.
