The search is finally over and Spirit Lake has it’s new head boys basketball coach. Athletic Director Rick Vander Woude made the announcement Wednesday afternoon that Nathan Loenser has been hired to take over the program, which was previously under the direction of John Walz. Loenser is a Cedar Falls, Iowa native who actually played baseball for a year at Iowa State before joining the coaching ranks. He began his coaching career with his alma mater, Northern University High School before moving to Ames High School. Loenser has spent the last six years at Southern Miss University, serving most recently as their Director of Basketball Operations for the past two seasons. The Indians were 7-15 in the 2009-2010 season
