Indians Fall, While Pioneers, EHawks, Hawks Win in Softball

Western Christian again got the better of Spirit Lake, blanking the Indians 10-0 in Lakes Conference action. Cara Vale suffered the loss as Spirit Lake drops to 5-2 overall and 0-1 in conference.

Jenny Hoch returned from her day on the links to play the role of hero for second-ranked Emmetsburg. The senior drove in the game winning run in the ninth, as the EHawks beat Storm Lake 3-2 in extra innings. Maddison Woodruff struck out 14 for the win, while also hitting one of two Emmetsburg home runs. The EHawks are still undefeated at 3-0.

Spirit Lake and Emmetsburg will square off this evening in non-conference play. That game can be heard on Campus Radio KUOO beginning at approximately 6:45.

The Pioneers of Okoboji jumped out early with three runs in the first inning, en route to a 4-2 win at Sheldon. Keely Bracelin earned the win as she allowing just two earned runs over seven innings. Makenzi Anderson went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored. Okoboji improves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in conference.

Meanwhile, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn earned an 8-0 road win at Spalding Catholic to reach 4-1 on the season and 3-1 in War Eagle Conference play.
