The tide has certainly shifted for the Spirit Lake baseball team, which won for the sixth consecutive time Wednesday night, defeating LeMars 11-4. Mitch Peschon hit his fourth home run of the season as part of a two RBI night at the plate, while also striking out ten as the winning pitcher. Zach Herrig and Tyler Dean also notched a pair of RBI apiece in the win.
The Lakes Conference title, however, belongs to Hull Western Christian. The Wolfpack secured their first ever championship with a 13-4 win over Emmetsburg, who is now winless through a dozen games in league play.
Alex Koepp’s three run homer in the sixth inning was the key moment in Okoboji’s come-from-behind 9-8 win over Manson-Northwest Webster last night. The sophomore went opposite field for his first homer of the season, a three-run blast that put the Pioneers ahead 8-7. Senior Ray Zalabowski came in to save the win, and also drove in two runs on 3-for-4 hitting with a homer. Tate Hanson struck out six to earn his first win as a pitcher. The Pioneers are now 7-13 on the season.
The Harris-Lake Park boys nearly pulled off a sweep of Armstrong-Ringsted. The Wolves won the first of two by a 4-3 margin, but fell 10-7 in extra innings in game two of the twin bill.
