The wins keep coming for the Spirit Lake Indians. Friday night they secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Estherville-Lincoln Central in Lakes Conference baseball. Paul Brown did not allow an earned run over seven innings on the hill for the win in a pitcher’s dual that surrendered six hits combined. Levi Davis recorded the lone RBI for the Indians, who have now won seven straight games. Spirit Lake improves to 13-10 on the season and 7-6 in the Lakes.
On the softball diamond, Emily Mercer again powered the Indians to victory, taking down Algona 7-4. Mercer hit a two-run homer, her third bomb of the season. The non-conference win puts Spirit Lake at 19-12 overall.
Also last night, Spencer was shutout 12-0 by LeMars in Lakes Conference softball.
