Spencer softball saw their season come to an end in the opening round of the Class 3A Regionals, falling to Algona 5-4 on Saturday. The Tigers held a 4-1 advantage after scoring three runs in the fifth inning, but committed two errors and allowed three hits in a four-run sixth inning for the Bulldogs, who advance to play Humboldt tonight in Algona. Spencer wraps up the year at 5-23.
The softball playoffs continue this evening with a Class 2A Regional Semifinal contest between Spirit Lake and Estherville-Lincoln Central in Milford. The Midgets took both matchups in the regular season. You can catch all the action on Q102 beginning at 6:45pm with the pre-game show. On Y100, Emmetsburg travels to Storm Lake to play Kuemper Catholic in a Class 2A semifinal. And in Class 1A, Graettinger-Terril battles 11th-ranked Alta in Spencer.
