The Okoboji Booster Club and the Okoboji High School Athletic Department will be holding their Sports Preview Night for the 2010-2011 school year on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at the high school. The football team will scrimmage from 500 to 530 PM, followed by the volleyball team from 545 to 615 PM, and all Fall sports teams will be introduced. The Booster Club will be serving hot dogs, burgers, chips, a sweet treat, and beverage for a free will offering in the high school multipurpose room beginning at 500 PM. There will be a program beginning at 700 PM in the high school auditorium.
All parents and student-athletes are strongly encouraged to attend the evening’s festivities, and especially, the program portion of the night. During the program, several important athletic department policies will be covered that all parents and student-athletes need to be aware of. Aaron Thomas will be the guest speaker during the program as well. Aaron is an ESPY award winner for courage and is the son of former long-time Aplington-Parkersburg football coach Ed Thomas. Aaron’s message of courage, perseverance during difficult times, and the importance of doing things the right way is sure to be something you won’t want to miss.
