Spirit Lake hosted its annual volleyball invitational on Saturday, and the Indians were able to come away with a second-place finish behind undefeated North Sentral Kossuth. NSK was a perfect 5-0 in match play, while both Spirit Lake and Harris-Lake Park went 4-1. The Indians won the head-to-head against the Wolves to secure the runner-up spot. Okoboji came in fourth with a 2-3 mark, followed by Sibley-Ocheyedan, Estherville-Lincoln Central, and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn. Holly Seemann of Spirit Lake had 23 kills and seven aces for the tournament. Amanda Bueltel registered 45 digs and Whitney Berkland had 34 assists, five aces.
Harris-Lake Park was paced by Lydia Brandt’s all-around effort of 27 kills, six blocks and 19 assists. Christine Larson was the team leader in kills with 37, while Macy Gunderson had 49 total set assists, Sam Brueggeman recorded 32 digs, and Leah Duitsman finished with nine aces.
