Spirit Lake cross country notched another set of victories Monday night at the Emmetsburg Invitational. The second-ranked boys team, behind a first place run from Alec Baldwin, was atop the team points standings with 29, ahead of North Iowa and Emmetsburg. All seven runners from the boys squad finished in the top 16, with Keith Byers finishing in third, Will Norris fourth, Kyle Anderson ninth, Ryan Lohse twelfth, Gabe McCoy 13th and Dan Stover 16th. On the girls side, the Indians’ 33 points was 18 better than second place North Iowa and the third place EHawks. Brianna Brunsvold was the top Spirit Lake runner with a third place effort, followed by KJ Veldman in fourth, Dondi Schmidt fifth, Jessie Kabele tenth, Justine Heinitz eleventh, Liz Skogerboe 13th, and Hayley Welch 16th. Spirit Lake runs again Tuesday night at the 15-team Storm Lake Invitational.
