The ranked cross country teams from Spirit Lake High School ran well at the 15-team Storm Lake Invitational. The Indians’ boys team finished in third behind Unity Christian and the host Tornadoes. Spencer ended the day in eighth place. Alec Baldwin ran a time of 16:02 to grab third-place honors for Spirit Lake, with teammates Keith Byers and Will Norris right on his heels for third and fourth place, respectively. In the girls race, the Indians were fourth after Unity, Algona and Spencer. Estherville-LC came in sixth. Setting the pace for Spirit Lake was Bryanna Brunsvold, finishing fifth with a time of 15:56. Six-seconds behind her was KJ Veldman in sixth place. Dondi Schmidt also finished in the top-20 at 19th.
