Indians Show Running Prowess at Cherokee Invite

Tuesday nights cross country meet in Cherokee provided one more quality tune up for the conference and district meets for a lot of area schools. Unity Christian would get the better of both the Spirit Lake Park boys and girls teams. The top-ranked Indians finished just four points behind the Knights. Storm Lake came in third, while the Okoboji boys finished eleventh. Alec Baldwin tallied another meet title, finishing first in 16:19, and teammate Will Norris was 25-seconds behind in second-place. Keith Byers wasn’t far behind in fourth place. Joe Hilsabeck paced the Pioneers with a time of 18:03, good for 20th. Spirit Lake Park was also runner-up on the girls side of the race, a dozen points behind Unity Christian. KJ Veldman ran to a second-place finish at 16:07, and Brianna Brunsvold was on here heels in third. Dondi Schmidt came away in ninth, and Jessie Kabele was eleventh. Clare Eckard ran to a sixth place finish at 16:30 to lead the Pioneers, who ended the night with an incomplete team score.

Spencer cross country ran at Eagle Grove and finished in fifth place, while Estherville-Lincoln Central was incomplete. Ryan Baumeister paced the Tigers with a fifth place individual run.
