After starting the season with five straight losses, the Okoboji boys basketball team now has win number one, as they took down Trinity Christian, 63-39 in a non-conference contest. The Pioneers hit four three-pointers on the night and finished 14-for-17 at the free throw line. Sophomore Bryson McCabe led all scorers with 18 points. Senior Simon Floss came off the bench to contribute ten, including two makes from beyond the arc. Okoboji improves to 1-5 on the year and returns to Siouxland Conference play on Thursday when they host Central Lyon. That doubleheader can be heard on Q102.
Harris-Lake Park also played out of conference on Monday night, and secured a 60-50 defeat of Mountain Lake Christian (MN). The two teams exchanged leads throughout the night until the Wolves pulled away late. Three players finished in double figures for HLP, led by junior Brady Nissen’s 18 points. Justin Murphy registered 15 points and Eli Ihnen had 14, with all three players combining to hit five three-pointers. Harris-Lake Park is back in action this evening taking on Clay Central-Everly.
