Area Golf Teams Battle on Links (High School Golf RoundUp)

The Siouxland Conference golf tour made two more stops Thursday night. The boys teams gathered in Sioux Center, where MOC-Floyd Valley notched yet another team victory with a 158 team score. Rock Valley finished second (160), Sibley-Ocheyedan was fifth (170) and Okoboji sixth (172). The Pioneers were led by Weston Bergeson, who fired a round of 41. James Halbur contributed a 42, Tanner Taylor a 44, and three others carded 45’s. Okoboji now sits in fourth in the team standings, three points behind the Generals and seven behind second place Rock Valley.

The girls portion of the tour was at George-Little Rock and the Dutch also came out on top with a 188 team score. Sioux Center grabbed second at 206, just two strokes better than third place Okoboji (208). Sibley-Ocheyedan finished seventh (227). Hannah Jones tied for third individually with a round of 47 for the Pioneers, while Kiley Wermersen and Kristina Kaiser each shot a 49. Okoboji also counted a 63 from Halee Morrow.

Emmetsburg won a four-team girls golf invite at Estherville-Lincoln Central on Thursday. The E-Hawks registered a team total of 195, followed by Spirit Lake’s 200, Spencer’s 202, and ELC’s 224. Megan Myers was the meet medalist for Emmetsburg with a 44. The Indians were paced by a pair of 48’s from Maureen Owens and Leah Hilpipre, followed by a pair of 52’s from Emily Ayers and Whitney Berkland.
