Indians Drop Two At Lawton-Bronson Baseball Tourney

The Spirit Lake baseball team competed in the Lawton-Bronson Tournament on Saturday but failed to earn a win in their two games. The Indians dropped their first contest by a 14-4 final against Lawton-Bronson in four innings. The Eagles jumped on senior Taylor Acton early, tagging the righty for eleven runs on four hits and three walks in the first inning, however, only two of the runs were earned. Offensively, Paul Brown went 3-for-3 with a run scored. Tyler Dean scored twice, while Zach Herrig and Brandon Stoll each notched RBIs. Game two was much closer as Spirit Lake fell 5-0 against Glenwood. Mitch Peschon took the loss, giving up the five runs on eight hits with three strikeouts. Stoll was the lone Indians batter to record multiple hits against Rams, who held Spirit Lake to just six total base hits. The two setbacks drop Spirit Lake to 12-5 overall. They will host Western Christian in a Lakes Conference baseball-softball doubleheader on Monday. The baseball game will begin at 7:30pm, while the softball matchup will get started at 7pm, and can be heard live on KUOO Campus Radio and at Network1Sports.com. Pregame coverage opens around 6:45pm.
