Okoboji Takes Second, HLP Third at S-O Tournament (Volleyball RoundUp)

Sibley-Ocheyedan hosted its volleyball tournament on Monday. Following pool play, the Okoboji Pioneers qualified for the championship match, but would fall in two sets to Boyden-Hull (21-8, 21-13) to finish in second place. Okoboji did beat Graettinger-Terril (21-13, 21-13) and Sibley-Ocheyedan (21-16, 21-15) in pool play. Mikkinzie Peschong registered 19 kills, 18 digs, and five blocks. Sydney Boeckholt had 22 assists and Faith Bartlett dug out 28 attacks. The Pioneers are 9-6.

Harris-Lake Park and Sibley-Ocheyedan battled it out for third place, with the Wolves coming out on top in two games (21-11, 21-16). HLP opened the tournament with a loss to Boyden-Hull (21-17, 21-13), before notching a win over Remsen St. Mary’s (21-11, 21-16). Noreen Morrow tallied 17 kills, Macy Gunderson dished out 27 set assists, Miranda Brueggeman had 17 digs and Leah Duitsman served up seven aces. Harris-Lake Park will have Pink Out Night against Graettinger-Terril on Tuesday, which will be Tuesday on Q102 and ExploreOkoboji.com. Fans are encourage to not only wear pink, but bring their spare change to help raise money for cancer research.

The Knights were unable to secure a win on Monday, dropping their matches with the Generals (21-12, 21-18) and Okoboji. Sibley-Ocheyedan finished 1-2 and in fourth place.

In other volleyball action, Sioux Central topped North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted in four sets (19-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-19).
