An extremely deep field of teams and athletes competed at the Storm Lake cross country invitational on Tuesday. The boys’ competition ended with Spirit Lake runners Will Norris and Keith Byers again in the top two spots. Norris finished first in 16:03, with Byers right behind at 16:19. Kyle Anderson ran a time of 17:15 to take ninth. Those three led the Indians to a third place team finish with 87 points, trailing only Unity Christian (82) and Storm Lake (84). Spencer earned fourth place with 109 points.
The girls competition was won by MOC-Floyd Valley (60), with Spencer taking fourth (104) and Spirit Lake seventh (192). Dondi Schmidt notched another top-ten finish with a time of 16:17 to grab ninth place.
