The Okoboji volleyball team hit the road Thursday in pursuit of win number one in Siouxland Conference play, however, defending league champion Sheldon proved too much in a three-game sweep. The Orabs won with set scores of 25-7, 25-7, and 25-13. The Pioneers fall to 0-2 in the conference and 9-7 overall. Okoboji is at Central Lyon next Thursday.
Elsewhere in the Siouxland, MOC-Floyd Valley handled Sibley-Ocheyedan in three straight games (25-11, 25-13, 25-11). Alyssa Hibbing and Kelsey Doorenbos had four kills each to pace the Generals, who are now 0-2 in conference play. Boyden-Hull needed five sets to dispatch Sioux Center (25-20, 25-23, 19-25, 18-25, 15-13). Central Lyon used five sets to claim bragging rights over West Lyon (25-18, 20-25, 25-14, 21-25, 15-13).
Other area volleyball scores include North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted sweeping Clay Central-Everly (25-13, 25-16, 25-8). Sioux Central topped Storm Lake St. Mary’s in three (25-16, 25-14, 25-14). Western Christian handled Bishop Heelan, Sioux City in straight sets (25-17, 25-18, 26-24). And Storm Lake fell in four sets to Ridge View (24-26, 25-16, 25-15, 25-19).
North of the border, top-ranked Jackson County Central fell for the first time, losing in three sets to Marshall (25-17, 25-22, 25-20). Fairmont fell in five tough sets to rival Blue Earth (25-14, 14-25, 25-21, 25-21, 26-24, 15-11). Martin County West needed just three sets for the win over GHEC/Martin Luther (25-14, 25-19, 25-14). Westbrook-Walnut Grove defeated Round Lake-Brewster in three games (25-8, 25-20, 25-11) and Worthington earned a three-set win over Redwood Valley (25-12, 25-22, 25-18).
