Forest City was the site of another weekend volleyball tournament for the Spirit Lake Indians, who returned with a 3-2 record in match play. The Indians notched wins over Forest City (19-21, 21-15, 16-14), Webster City (12-21, 21-17, 15-11), and Clear Lake (22-20, 21-18). The losses came against Algona (21-14, 21-16) and Clarion-Goldfield (21-11, 21-18). For the day, Kendra Stokke had 33 kills, 42 digs and four services aces. Whitney Berkland registered 64 set assists and seven aces. Amanda Bueltel dug up 48 potential kills and Bailey Loveall had 21 kills, eight blocks and seven aces. Spirit Lake is now 11-4 overall this season and returns to action Tuesday against Emmetsburg, a match we’ll have live on KUOO.
Harris-Lake Park earned its first volleyball tournament title on Saturday, taking the crown in a tiebreaker at the Ruthven-Ayrshire Invitational. The Wolves beat Remsen-Union (21-19, 21-14) and the hometown Raiders (21-12, 21-16), but fell in three sets to Graettinger-Terril (20-22, 21-8, 15-11). Noreen Morrow led HLP with 28 kills and 25 digs on the day. Macy Gunderson dished out 47 set assists and had 22 digs. Harris-Lake Park is now 8-10 overall this season and will host West Bend-Mallard on Tuesday.
Other scores from the tournament saw Remsen-Union take down Graettinger-Terril (21-16, 21-15) and Ruthven-Ayrshire (21-8, 21-14).
