Okoboji Boys Run to Runner-up Finish, Girls Fourth (Cross Country RoundUp)

Runner-up was the word of the day for the Okoboji boys cross country team on Monday after competing in the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Invitational. The Pioneers finished second as a team with 55 points, 16 back of front-running Central Lyon/George-Little Rock (39). Individually, Joe Hilsabeck ran to a runner-up finish with a time of 17:09. Ryan Chinlund had a top five finish at 18:15. Five other Okoboji runners came in the top 25.

The girls’ race was won by Sioux Central, who notched 47 points. Central Lyon/George-Little Rock was second (75), followed by Hinton (92) and then Okoboji in fourth place at 101 points. Clare Eckard crossed the finish line fifth at exactly 17:00, while teammate Olivia Albright set a personal best time of 17:11 to take sixth.
