Okoboji Volleyball To Host Pink Out Night Thursday

On Thursday, October 6, 2011, the Okoboji High School Athletic Department, Lakes Regional Healthcare, and the American Cancer Society will be hosting Breast Cancer Awareness Night in conjunction with 9th/JV/Varsity volleyball matches against Sibley-Ocheyedan at Okoboji High School in Milford. All fans are encouraged to wear pink as the gym will be a “Pink Out” to show support for the cause of breast cancer awareness.

The theme for the night is “DIGGING FOR A CURE”. There will be a tail-gate party starting at 500 PM in the new gym lobby served by Northwest Bank. They will be serving taco-in-a-bag and a beverage for $4. Lakes Regional Healthcare and the American Cancer Society will have booths in the lobby with information regarding breast cancer statistics, prevention, and detection. Lakes Regional Healthcare will also have a drawing with the winner receiving a free screening digital mammogram. The 9th and JV volleyball matches get underway at 530 PM with the Varsity contest to begin around 650 PM.

To demonstrate the gym’s “Pink Out” decor, the Okoboji girls volleyball players will wear pink game jerseys, use pink game balls, and pink programs will be available for the fans. Pink “DIGGING FOR A CURE” t-shirts will be on sale at the Okoboji High School office for $15 beginning on Friday, September 30 and will be available up to and on October 6th as well.

Several outstanding sponsors have teamed up with the Okoboji High School Athletic Department in this project – Lakes Regional Healthcare, Northwest Bank, the Okoboji Booster Club, CC Screenprinting, and the Lakes News Shopper. All proceeds from the tailgate and t-shirt sales will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

If you have any questions or would like to purchase a shirt, please contact the Okoboji High School office at 712.338.2446 or email Ryan Paulsen at rpaulsen@okoboji.k12.ia.us.
