A 14-point advantage in second half scoring for Harris-Lake Park propelled the Wolves to a 37-22 non-conference boys basketball victory Monday over county rival Spirit Lake, the first HLP win over the Indians since the 2005-06 season. Brady Nissen paced the eighth-ranked Wolves with a game-high 18 points, including three 3-pointers. Spirit Lake, which scored just five points in the second half and went scoreless over the games final eight minutes, received a team-high eleven points from Sawyer Harms. The senior connected on 7-of-11 free throw attempts. The Indians own a 4-3 record overall and will take two weeks off before returning after the new year to play Estherville-Lincoln Central on January 3. Harris-Lake Park, at a perfect 7-0, is back in action Tuesday at Clay Central-Everly. Q102 will have coverage of that Cornbelt Conference doubleheader.

Okoboi hosted a Siouxland Conference twinbill against Boyden-Hull on Monday. The Pioneers dropped the girls matchup to the Comets by a 61-32 margin, falling for the third straight game. Darby Jones paced Okoboji with nine points. The Pioneers are 2-6 in league play and now 3-6 overall. On the boys side, Okoboji hung tough with the sixth-ranked Comets, however, Boyden-Hull broke away from a four-point game at half to earn a 66-47 road win. Dalton Syverson dropped in a team-high 16 points, to go along with nine rebounds. Keith Oskvig contributed eleven points. The Pioneers remain winless through eight games, with both teams set to take on Emmetsburg in a non-conference set of games Thursday in Milford. Coverage can be heard on Q102.

Elsewhere, Sioux Central owned a non-conference doubleheader against Clay Central-Everly. The Rebels remained undefeated with an 83-49 win in the girls contest, then took the boys game handily, 53-18. North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted split two games with Granada-Huntley-East Chain out of Minnesota. The Eagles grabbed a 43-31 girls victory, but fell in overtime by five, 48-43, in the boys. And the Mustangs of George-Little Rock swept a doubleheader against Adrian, MN, winning by three in a close girls matchup, 57-54, and then taking the nightcap 67-52 in the boys game.
