The drought is over! Okoboji defeated rival Sibley-Ocheyedan, 49-45, in Siouxland Conference play Friday in Milford, snapping a 45-game losing streak in league games. Okoboji assumed the lead midway through the first quarter and never looked back. James Halbur buried a career-high five three-pointers en route to a game-high 18 points. Dalton Syverson pitched in with a dozen points. The Generals were paced by Pat Alexander’s thirteen points, while Harrison Feldkamp dropped in twelve points and Caleb Hartwig eleven points. Sibley-Ocheyedan falls to 1-8 overall and league games. They play at Spirit Lake on Monday, a game that will air on KUOO. Okoboji improves to 1-10 overall and 1-8 in the conference. Next up is a trip to George-Little Rock on Tuesday.

Elsewhere in the Siouxland, Boyden-Hull routed George-Little Rock, 70-49. West Lyon took down Rock Valley, 77-70. MOC-Floyd Valley stayed perfect with a 59-49 defeat of Sioux Center. Sheldon ran away from Central Lyon in a 53-31 ballgame.
Harris-Lake Park’s undefeated season continued through another game Friday, this time a Cornbelt Conference win over Ventura, 65-33. Brady Nissen was the top performer with 19 points and nine rebounds for the Wolves, who also got eleven points from Colin Brons. HLP sits at 11-0 on the year and 6-0 in conference. They travel north to Minnesota on Tuesday to battle Round Lake-Brewster.

Also in Cornbelt, Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven Ayrshire snuck past Clay Central-Everly for a 47-45 victory. The Knights are 2-8 overall and 2-4 in the league, with a home game Tuesday against West Bend-Mallard. CCE falls to 1-8 this winter and 1-5 in the Cornbelt. They go out-of-conference Tuesday to play at Laurens-Marathon. North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted defeated CWL, 61-33.
Spirit Lake withstood a late surge by Emmetsburg to win a Lakes Conference matchup over the E-Hawks, 41-38. Paul Brown dropped in three 3-pointers and was a perfect 4-of-4 at the free throw line for a game-high thirteen points. Sawyer Harms finished with ten points. Emmetsburg received a ten-point effort off the bench from Michael Wolff. The E-Hawks are 1-5 in conference, with four of the losses coming by three points each. They are 4-6 overall and travel to Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Tuesday for a non-league game on Q102. The Indians sit at 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the Lakes. They host non-conference foe Sibley-Ocheyedan on Monday, which can be heard on KUOO.

Also in the Lakes, Western Christian poured it on offensively at Spencer in taking a 63-33 victory. The Wolfpack had four players in double figures, while the Tigers were led by Blake Seier’s nine points. Spencer, which lost for the third straight time in league play, is 3-3 in the conference and 5-4 overall. Storm Lake dominated Cherokee, 72-44.
Down in the War Eagle Conference, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn dropped a 60-48 game at Remsen-Union. The Hawks have lost three straight, and are 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the league. HMS hosts Emmetsburg Tuesday on Q102.
In other area hoops action, Sioux Central defeated Prairie Valley, 65-57. North of the border, Martin County West took down St. Clair, 69-59. Fairmont defeated New Ulm, 70-59. Southwest Star Concept fell by a point to Adrian, 58-57, and Worthington won a high scoring affair with Southwest Minnesota Christian, 79-78.
