The boys contest ended in a 71-56 final in favor of the Comets. Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, which has lost seven of its last eight, drops to 5-9 on the year. The Hawks travel to West Sioux on Friday for a War Eagle Conference doubleheader.
North of the border, the girls and boys teams from Martin County West each picked up wins on Thursday. The Mavericks won a home game over Cleveland, 42-37, in girls hoops, while the boys hit the road for a 58-53 decision over Minnesota Valley Lutheran. Southwest Star Concept fell at home to Murray County Central by a basket, 35-33, in girls action.
