Indians Take Two From Rival Spencer (Tennis RoundUp)

Rivals Spirit Lake-Okoboji and Spencer met up in Lakes Conference tennis play on Tuesday. The girls, playing at Speier Park in Okoboji, finished in lopsided fashion, with SL-O claiming a 9-0 blanking of the Tigers. KJ Veldman (10-6), Hannah Coenen (10-3), Rachael Westergard (10-1), Margaret Delaney (10-4), Olivia Rohlk (10-2), and Amanda Bueltel (10-2) all dominated their singles matches. In doubles, Coenen/Westergard (11-9), Veldman/Rohlk (10-2), and the Delaney sisters (Margaret and Natalie won 10-3) finished off the sweep. Spirit Lake-Okoboji has not lost a match in its last two outings.

The boys pairing provided much more drama at Riverview Park in Spencer, as Spirit Lake-Okoboji snatch a close 5-4 victory. Wes Bergquist (10-4), Connor Rowley (10-1), Andrew Ites (10-6), and Jackson Walsh (10-5) provided just enough comfort with wins in the singles matches, that SL-O only needed to win one of the three doubles events. That was taken care of by Trystan Wiedow and Connor Rowley, who won 10-5 to push Spirit Lake-Okoboji to a second straight one-point victory.
