Spirit Lake softball ran away with a 12-0 win in three
innings against Storm
Lake on Monday. The Indians
received a big night from Paige Krause, who hit her fourth home run of the
season as part of a 3-for-3 night with three runs driven in and three scored.
Amanda Bueltel also scored three runs. Alissa Christoffer and Ashley Rohlf each
had multi-hit efforts. Pre-freshman Bailee Newman earned the win with a
one-hitter and three K’s. Spirit
Lake is now 2-5 in the
Lakes Conference and travels to Sibley-Ocheyedan for a non-conference contest
Tuesday.
In a battle of ranked teams, Emmetsburg outlasted Estherville-Lincoln
Central on Monday, defeating the eighth-ranked Midgets, 2-1, in eleven innings.
Faith Schmidt struck out ten batters and scattered ten ELC hits. The No. 13
E-Hawks have now won six straight games, are 4-2 in conference play, and play
at Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire on Tuesday. The Midgets, who had an
eight-game win streak snapped and suffer their first loss in league play,
return to the diamond on Wednesday against LeMars.
Spencer solidified yet another Lakes Conference win, taking
down Western Christian, 5-0. The Tigers jump to 4-2 in league games and travel
to Cherokee on Wednesday.
Okoboji exploded for six runs in the fifth inning to bring
an end to their Siouxland Conference game with Sibley-Ocheyedan, topping the
Generals, 10-0 in five innings. Mikkinzie Peschong earned the win, as the Pioneers even up
their conference record at 3-3. Okoboji takes the field with top-ranked North
Union on Tuesday in Milford.

In the Cornbelt Conference, Harris-Lake Park struggled to find the plate in taking a pair of losses at West Bend-Mallard. The Lady Wolves were shutout, 8-0, in the opener, then dropped a 14-4 contest in game two. HLP is an even 3-3 in league games and travels to Central Lyon/George-Little Rock for a non-conference matchup Tuesday.
Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayshire lit up the scoreboard in a doubleheader
sweep of CWL on Monday. GTRA won by scores of 12-0 and 14-2 to improve their league
record to 6-4. They host non-conference rival Emmetsburg on Tuesday.
Also, top-ranked North Union
breezed past Clay Central-Everly with a pair of three inning victories. The
Warriors topped the Mavericks by scores of 15-1 and 12-0 to stay unbeaten.
Over in the War Eagle, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn dominated a
twinbill against Unity Christian, taking two contests from the Knights. The
Hawks won the opener, 14-2 in four innings, then earned a 13-9 decision in the
nightcap. The two W’s put HMS at 4-6 in league play with a rivalry matchup
Wednesday against South O’Brien.
