After scoring 41 runs in three straight wins, Spirit Lake
found themselves in a defensive struggle Wednesday at Western Christian. The
Indians would eventually secure a 2-1
Lakes Conference victory
on the road, their fourth straight win and fifth in their last six games. Spirit Lake
jumps to 4-2 in conference and is off until Monday when they host Emmetsburg.
Also in the Lakes, Spencer picked up a win despite
collecting just three hits. The Tigers defeated Cherokee 2-1 behind a
twelve-strikeout, four-hit performance on the mound by Matt Klemme. Spencer is
an even 3-3 in league play and hosts Storm
Lake on Monday.
Emmetsburg dropped a 7-1 contest at Storm Lake.
The E-Hawks fall to 3-4 and travels out-of-conference to battle West Hancock in
Britt on Saturday.
In the Siouxland Conference, George-Little Rock handed
Sibley-Ocheyedan a third straight loss in a 5-2 ballgame Wednesday. The
Generals are 2-6 in the league and play at Sioux Center
on Thursday. Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley earned a 2-1 decision over Central Lyon. Okoboji had its home game with Sioux Center
postponed due to wet conditions. No make-up date has been set.
