HLP has lost six straight and will put a 5-14 record on the line Monday when
CWL comes to town for a Cornbelt Conference doubleheader. HMS also found
themselves on the losing end of a pair of games, dropping a 14-2 contest to
Sioux Central and a much closer 9-8 affair to West Monona.

Krista Orthmann took both losses. The Hawks are 7-11 and will attempt to snap a
four-game skid Wednesday at Remsen St. Mary’s.
At the Ft. Dodge Tournament, ninth-ranked Emmetsburg
couldn’t find their bats in a pair of shutout losses on the second day of
competition. The E-Hawks went down 10-0 against Ft.
Dodge, setting up a consolation
matchup against top-ranked North Union. The
Warriors handed Emmetsburg a 12-0 setback in five innings. Peyton Olsen limited
the E-Hawks to just a pair of hits, while seven Warriors hitters enjoyed
multiple hits. North Union had previously lost
to Harlan, 9-5. Emmetsburg is now 16-7 and riding a
three-game losing streak into Monday’s game at Spirit Lake.
That Lakes Conference matchup will be broadcast on KUOO.
